The Doctor grinned wildly, picking up the pace, laughing.
“I’M THE DOCTOR.”
Jan frowned at him, giving him a look; “Really?” He sighed, “You’re real original, pal.” They arrived at the entrance to the mine, and the sounds of mining could be heard, metal on stone ringing out in a cacophony of noise. “Well… What now? I could fight them, but I don’t know how many there are. Besides, how are we going to get the people out?” He turned to the Doctor, “Come on, Doctor, someone like you must have an idea.”
“Of course I have an idea—I’ll tell you when it comes to me.” he moved to a place where he could see the operation and paced back and forth, tapping his chin. “They’re here to mine which is relatively unusual. What could they be using the material for. Rusting? decay…No that wouldn’t be it would it.” he looked over at Jan.
“Sooo how strong is this metal?”
Jan shrugged, “Well, it’s metal! It’s strong enough, I guess.” He sheathed his sword, “What can we do to stop them? They could make anything with that metal… Weapons, armor…” He thought for a moment, before grinning, “But you know, disciples of the Twelve…” He licked his lips, lightning sparking around his fist. “We can all do magic… Magic that crushes and breaks!”
“Something shot down the eyestalk, or a planet shattering explosion…I’m not fond of destroying planets. That’s their thing….” he frowned. “but what sort of projectiles would work on them. I have no idea what would work on them here. Do you have …hm Cannons?”
Jan wondered for a moment, “If we can get a Cra free, they can fire bows. Cannons? Nothing like that in the mines…” Jan shrugs, “Couldn’t I just cut off the eye anyways? I’m strong enough.” He flexes his muscles, grinning, showing off that Iop pride. “Don’t under-… under… uh… Don’t make light of me!” And now he’s showing off that Iop brain…

“Nooot much but if we run we can catch them…and the people they take for mining slaves I think. NEeeever actually found out what happened after they got em. We’ll find out if were late, eh?” He ran back the way they’d come, grinning like the madman he was.
Jan chased after the Doctor, his hand squeezing around the grip of his sword. He was getting angry— a dangerous thing for a Iop to get. He could only think of crushing those tin cans under the might of his blade, destroying them with every fiber of his being. “Faster!” He says, passing the Doctor, before turning slightly to look over his shoulder at him. “You never said what your name was…”

Jan growls, tugging away from the Doctor’s grip. “Yeah? And what do you suppose we do? Run and hide?” Jan doesn’t look happy, but he knows he can’t do anything against the darlek’s alone. “Or do you have something to kill them? How can trash cans move around and shoot like that, anyways?”
“Running and hiding and planning are usually the way people do it. I’m not the usual sort of people.” he peered at the Dalek as they approached the gates, putting a hand over his mouth. “Show me a secret way in, some place that I can get up high in, and we’ll plan from there, yes?”
Jan glared for a moment longer, then sighed. “Fine… Follow me, we can go through the guard barracks to reach the roof of the walls.” He headed through a small port hole, likely used for firing arrows at attackers, then made his way up the spiral staircase. The roof of the city walls held large torches, but other than that, seemed pretty empty. The Darleks were pushing everyone to the center of the city.
“Hey, wait… Are they going into the mines?” Jan pointed over towards a small railway, “Why would they go in there?”
He stepped up and peered over the edge of the roof, watching the Daleks.
“What are you mining?” he frowned, stepping back, tapping his chin, brow furrowed. “they’re not interested in salt. Sulfur, now that would be too silly… Metal? They’re always looking for metal. Is it metal? Iron?”
“Iron, manganese, cobalt, ebonnite… The Enutrofs are famous for their desire of riches and metals.” He looked to the Doctor, “What can those things do with metal? What about all the people they took?” His hand tightened on the swords grip, “How much time do we have?”

“And that’s the smart way to a quick death.” He sighed, chasing after him. “OY. OYYYY. IOP PERSON! YOU’RE GOING TO DIE IF YOU DO THAT”
He dodged around trees, checking to make sure his sonic was still in his pocket. “THEY HAVE LASERS YOU KNOW.”
Jan lead the way through the forest, “I don’t even know what those are!” He shouted back at the Doctor, that same cocky grin plastered on his face. “I just want to break them!” He hauled off in a full sprint, bursting through a tree he couldn’t dodge, landing, and not missing a beat as he continues to run.
Moments later, they’d reached the city Gates, Darleks rounding civilians up and shooting down the random Iop or other foolish hero type. Jan grit his teeth, “I’m a knight…” He was panting from his run, looking at the Doctor, “If I don’t do something, what am I worth?”
“You’re worth a pile of ash on the floor doing something like that. I hope everyone on this planet isn’t like you or there won’t be much for me to do.” he grabbed his collar, jerking him backward. “Better worthless than dead. Remember that.”

“You aim them at each other.” the Doctor said, shoving himself to his feet, watching the exodus. “What’s that way? Population. Population draws them. How big is that city?” he looked at the iop, tilting his head to the right ever so slightly.
Jan brushes some dirt off his fantastic hair, pointing at the city walls with his sword. “That’s Astrub. You’ve never heard of it?” He shrugs, “Travelers these days… Anyways, it’s a huge trading city. Tons of people.” He thinks for a moment before frowning, “…And not a lot of fighters. Even worse, the guards…” He gives a stern look at the Doctor, “You will help me kill them. If you live, I’ll have you knighted!” He grins wide, lifting his sword above his head, screaming at the top of his lungs, “NO FEAR, NO BRAIN!”
Then, he charges towards Astrub, screaming like a wild animal.

What a way for a Iop to wake up.
With a massive explosion.
The forest was already thick with smoke and flames by the time Jan jumped out the second floor of the temple, narrowly avoiding a green laser that zoomed right between his legs. He readied his massive sword, staring down a… metal, floating trashcan?
“Eh, what?” Jan stammered, before another explosion launched him away.
“EXTERMINATE!” was the last thing he heard before his empty skull slammed into the ground…
The characteristic whirring sound of the Tardis setting down might have caught some attention, though, as the Doctor soon found out, no one really seemed to be paying attention.
“Oh. Ok. Well. Lets see what we have here we haaaaaaaaave… A LOT of wood. Thank you love. That’s a hell of a lot of wood you’ve found. You do realize I can’t DO anything with wood? What if someone needs something unlocked? I haven’t got a crowbar.” He rolled his eyes at the Tardis and made his way through the town, his head snapping toward the sound of the Daleks approaching.
“BRILLIANT. You DIDN’T fail me. Sorry for doubting you Gorgeous.” he shouted back at the blue box and darted through the town, an excited grin on his face.
His eyes fell on the Iop on the ground and he heaved a sigh, darting out of sight. “Get to you blokes later. Seems the locals need me.” he promised in a whispering grin, slinking to the fallen native, prodding his shoulder. “Oy. Oy. Are you awake?”
Jan pops up, dirt and some blood fall off his very stiff, orange hair. Jan was incredibly ginger. He looked at the Doctor, glaring for a moment, before picking up his sword. “How do I kill them?” He ordered, standing to his feet, “They won’t get away with this evil!”
However, the Darleks more or less seem to be ignoring the two of them… Perhaps they haven’t quite realized who has arrived. They seemed to be flying straight for the city, however…
